Care Package Newbies

November 5, 2009

Hey ladies and gents,

mwrsoldiersopencarepacks5fe4

Just wanted to compile a quick list for any of you out there who are new at sending care packages. Maybe this is your first deployment and you are new to this added feature of military life. Perhaps you are one of the amazing people adopting a troop this Christmas and need ideas on what to send. Below is a brief listing of some of the most requested items from my soldier and other guys overseas.

*Baby Wipes
*Board Games
*Playing Cards
*Card Games
*Beef Jerky
*Batteries
*White Socks (short ones for the gym are great!)
*Phone Cards (be sure they are the AT&T International ones!)
*Fruit Snacks (Gushers, Fruit Roll-Ups, etc.)
*Music CD’s
*DVD’s
*Paper, Pen, Envelopes, etc.
*Individually Wrapped Snacks (for carrying in pockets on mission)
*Air Spray (Lysol, Febreeze, etc.)
*Air Fresheners
*Foot Powder
*Headphones (Comfy ones!)
*Hard Candy (Lifesavers, Jolly Ranchers, Tootsie Pops)

And every soldier loves a hand written note, card, or letter of thanks. They need to know we support them and support their mission. That the things they are doing matter to us and are not forgotten.

If you all have other ideas, please list them here!

Here is a list of items we include in our “Hero Pack” care packages @ http://www.thankyousoldier.com/heropacks.html and we’ve had a really good response from those Heroes who have received them.
