Holiday Mail for Heroes

Holiday Mail for Heroes

The Holiday Mail for Heroes campaign is one I am choosing to devote my time to and endorse feverishly this holiday season. I hope you and your family will choose to do the same!

Today over 1.4 million men and women serve in the U.S. armed forces and over 24 million veterans have served in the past. The holiday season is the perfect time to honor and extend a warm holiday greeting to those who’ve served and continue to do so.

The Red Cross & Pitney Bowes, Inc have partnered together to make sure our service members, their families, and veterans are remembered this holiday season. This project is SO EASY! Here’s how you can do it…

Gather your friends and family and have a card-making party! They will accept up to 50 cards from a group or 15 as an individual. Turn it into a pot-luck event or perhaps just a dessert and hot chocolate night. Provide various types of construction paper, scissors, *NO GLITTER*, holiday stickers, glue, glue sticks, sharpies, colored pens, paints, etc. You can even pick up packs of cards like these at your local JoAnn’s, Michael’s, or A.C. Moore. Put on some festive holiday music and enjoy doing something really special for some really special people. The kids can get involved by adding their special touches and the adults will have a great time as well.

Please remember that all cards MUST be postmarked by December 7th, 2009 and MUST be entitled “Dear Service Member, Family or Veteran.” Be sure to sign the cards, but leave out further personal information such as location, age, e-mail address, etc. Do not include any inserts. Do not use glitter as it aggrivates some injuries. Bundle the cards together WITHOUT envelopes. They will go through them for security purposes so there is no need to include envelopes.

When finished, mail them to:

Holiday Mail for Heroes
P.O. Box 5456
Capitol Heights, MD 20791-5456

And if you need more motivation to do this amazing project, here’s a clip from Holiday Mail for Heroes themselves:

PLEASE adopt this program for yourselves, your families, and your workplaces this holiday season. If you do, please let me know by leaving a comment here.

Gloria! So glad to help. I’m trying to do as much as I can to get as many people involved as possible. Social media is FANTASTIC for things like this. I’ve put the word out on Twitter and Facebook as well. Merry Christmas to you!
