Support Our Troops! RECYCLE???

May 20, 2010

You’re probably wondering how in the heck recycling is going to support our troops. Bring in Terracycle.

This company takes bottles, snack wrappers, toilet paper wrappers, Huggies packaging, etc and turns them into products. It’s one step above recycling! So much cannot be recycled the old fashioned way and requires so much energy to re-produce. For example, they take trashed soda bottles and re-use them to package their natural plant fertilizer made from…ready for it…worm poop! The prices for their products are AMAZING. They also have natural cleaners, picture frames, backpacks, purses, and so much more. So where does the troop part come in?

Where do you think they get all of those wrappers, packages, and bottles? From US! Terracycle will pay 2 cents per wrapper, bottle, package, etc. and give it to your favorite charity. Moms, think about how many juice pouches your kids go through each month at school. If you have two kids and they each drink two a day…thats 120 drink pouches! Translate that at 2 cents per pouch and you’ve got $2.40 going to charity…JUST IN DRINK POUCHES FOR ONE MONTH!

I’m asking all of my blog readers to get involved and help me, help our troops. I’ve started a TerraCycle Brigade with the benefiting charity being the USO. They do so many incredible things for our men and women and us. If you want to get involved (which I hope you do) please send me an e-mail at ShanPando@yahoo.com so I can send you an invite. It’s so easy! No catch! Just collect garbage (you’ll see a list of what we’re collecting), print out a postage paid label, drop off at UPS, and see how much you’ve collected!

Hi there – I’m with the USO and we’d love to know more about your project and how we can help you make sure the donations get to the right place! Feel free to send an email to commrequest@uso.org – thanks.
